Joseph Frank Nocek passed away July 5, 2023.
He was born December 14, 1929, in Sheridan, New York. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Missouri during the Korean Conflict.
He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Nocek in 2013. Also predeceased by his parents, Paul and Sophia Nocek and siblings, Helen Yonkers, Leo Nocek, Edward Nocek, Louis Nocek and Josephine Wilkosz.
Joe is survived by his five children, Cathy Hornbarger (Perry), Joann Clack (David), Sheila Snock (Robert), Joseph James Nocek, and Eric Nocek (Amber), eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog, Shorty.
Joe retired from Conrail in 1992 as a locomotive engineer and subsequently volunteered with the Chautauqua County Home for eight years. He enjoyed his friends at Darwin’s Health Club and the Dunkirk Senior Center. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and member of the VFW.
No service will be held, and interment is private. In memory of Joe, please make contributions to the Lakeshore Humane Society in Dunkirk, New York.
