David A. Jourdanais, 59, of Dunkirk died Saturday evening (May 27, 2023) at home following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 12, 1963, in Dunkirk, the son of the late Franklin Sr. and Rita (Kupiec) Jourdanais.
A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, David was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, class of 1981. He had been employed by the Department of Transportation in Fredonia.
He was a member of the Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club, Moniuszko Club, and several other social clubs in the area.
David was always ready to visit Disney World or a NASCAR race. He enjoyed his 31 street rod and attending car shows. He also enjoyed camping and fishing with friends and family. He took great pride in his ability to garden and preserve pickles, relishes, jams, and fruit. The Holidays found him baking a variety of cookies to gift to friends and family. He also was adept at home remodeling and landscaping.
Survivors include his wife, June (Maggio) Jourdanais; his children, Colleen Clutter of Orlando, Fla. and Matthew Clutter of Missouri City, TX; granddaughter, Ava; brother, Franklin (Virginia) Jourdanais; and several cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his niece, Janine Jourdanais.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 31, from 4-7 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 1, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Joseph Porpiglia will officiate. The burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750, or Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 East Chestnut St., Dunkirk, NY 14048.

Sad to hear of David’s passing. We grew up across the street from each other. David was the sweetest boy in the neighborhood, he was always kind and considerate. Fond memories will always keep David’s spirit in “the neighborhood”.
