Katherine M. “Chubby” Fellinger

Katherine M. “Chubby” Fellinger

Katherine M. “Chubby” Fellinger, 91, passed away peacefully (Dec. 10, 2022) at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk with her family by her side.

She was born April 9, 1931, in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine (Dolce) Antolini.

A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Chubby was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, class of 1949. She started her working career at Dunkirk Trust. After a brief stay at home she then went on to work at Tops Market in Dunkirk and Red Wing in Fredonia forming many wonderful long lasting relationships with people she considered her family. Katherine was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church.

She retired at 62 to take care of her parents and many children who she helped raise. She loved each of them as her own. When she could no longer stay at home she accepted going into the home with much dignity, not wanting to be a burden on anyone. The aides who took care of her loved her like she was their mother. We will forever be grateful for their help and love.

Survivors include one daughter, Jean (Jack) Coughlin of Fredonia; one son, Jeffrey Fellinger of Shreveport; her sister, Jennie (late Dr. Russell) Gugino of Rochester; four grandchildren, Erica (Louis) Fuqua, Thomas (Kyle) Coughlin, Matthew Fellinger, and Isabella Fellinger; two great grandchildren; Caitlin Fuqua and James Fuqua; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene V. Fellinger, whom she married June 1, 1957 and who died Dec. 21, 2014; and two brothers, Lorry Antolini and Albert (Donna) Monile.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated Thursday morning at 11 o’clock in Holy Trinity Church. There will be no prior visitation. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Sheridan, NY. In lieu of flowers or charitable donations Chubby would have liked you to take a moment and do something kind for someone.

Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
