Remi Cornier

Remi Cornier, 80, of Dunkirk died Tuesday afternoon (March 1, 2022) at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa., following a brief illness.

He was born Dec. 16, 1941, in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Abad and Ester (Figueroa) Cornier.

A Dunkirk resident since 1967, Remi worked for various farms in the area. He was a member of Jehovah’s Witness in Dunkirk. Remi was an avid fisherman and loved to garden.

Survivors include his wife, Carmen (Gonzalez) Cornier; two daughters, Alida (Rodney) Turner of Seneca Falls and Milly (Scott) Wallace of Endicott; four sons, Jose (Joanne) Cornier of Fredonia, Miguel Cornier of Galen, Daniel (Jennifer) Cornier of Davenport, IA, and Javier (Wanda) Cornier of Yauco, PR. Also survived by three sisters, two brothers, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the McGrawKowal Funeral Home.
