Charlie C. Butts Jr.

Charlie C. Butts Jr., 55, of Sinclairville, formerly of Dunkirk, died suddenly Saturday afternoon (Nov. 27, 2021) at UPMC Chautauqua in Jamestown.

He was born Jan. 20, 1966, in Dunkirk, the son of Jura (Green) Butts of Dunkirk and the late Char-lie L. Butts Sr.

Charlie attended Dunkirk High School, where he excelled at basketball. A tenacious center, he was an integral part of the Marauders’ success during the team’s championship seasons. Charlie played under the guidance of Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame inductee, Coach Robert “Peanuts” Wisniewski.

A lifelong area resident, he had been employed as a machine operator for ECR International, Inc. in Dunkirk.

Besides his mother, he is survived by one son, Malachi S. Butts of Sinclairville; four brothers: Michael (Michelle) Butts of Hollywood, Fla., Darin Butts of Jamestown, Chad (Yolanda) Butts of Dunkirk, and Brandon Butts of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Gabierl C. Butts; two sisters: Susan Butts and Bernice Green Warren; and one brother, Cleveland Butts.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
