Clifford C. “Cliff” Briggs, 75, of Dunkirk, died Wednesday evening (Dec. 8, 2021) at Brooks Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born Oct. 1, 1946, in Dunkirk, the son of the late Clarence and Mary (Desmond) Briggs.
A lifelong Dunkirk resident, he was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, class of 1966. Mr. Briggs served in the U.S. Army from 1967-68 and had been employed by Nestle Purina and Great Lakes Color Printing.
He was a lifetime member of the Moniuszko Club, where he had served as president and a board member. Clifford was also a social member of the World War II Vets.
=He enjoyed playing in the Drum & Bugle Corps and also marched with Hose Company No. 1 and the Dunkirk Patriot’s for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy J. (Samuelson) Briggs, whom he married July 12, 1975; one son, Robert (Kia) Briggs of Fredonia; one daughter, Leslie Briggs of Dunkirk; three grandchildren: Trestin, Robert “RJ”, and Mila Briggs; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: William Briggs and Harry Briggs; one sister, Sylvia Gorka; and his niece, Susan Stoyle.
Calling hours will be held Friday, Dec. 17, from 4-7 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
