Rachel M. (Regulski) Hube

Rachel M. (Regulski) Hube, 76, of Dunkirk, N.Y., died Saturday afternoon (Dec. 11, 2021) at her home in Dunkirk from complications of breast cancer.

Rachel was born May 9, 1945, in Ridgway, Pa., the daughter of the late Veronica (Cuneo) and Stanley Regulski.

She was the youngest of four children and a proud graduate of Ridgway High School class of 1963. She graduated from Lock Haven University in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree in education. She obtained her master’s degree in education from SUNY Fredonia. She was a dedicated and proud elementary school educator and was employed by Fredonia Central Schools until her retirement.

Rachel loved to stay active and walk the shores of Lake Erie to look for beach glass with her trusted Labrador, Abbie. Her favorite kind of day was a summer day outdoors. She had the most amazing green thumb and could revive and make beautiful any flower or plant. She was an expert seamstress and sewed all her two daughter’s prom dresses and many cherished quilts. She baked the most delicious blueberry and apple pies, having learned from her father how to make pie crust. She loved to read, travel, kayak, and ride her bike.

Rachel loved her many friends, many of whom she knew for decades. She loved her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Most of all, she loved her husband Henry, to whom she was married for 25 years.

Rachel is survived by her husband, Henry; and her three children: Megan (Clifton) Mistry and her husband, Bipin Mistry of Needham, Mass., Erin (Clifton) Harrison and her husband, Kirk Harrison of Fredonia, N.Y., and Andy Clifton of Colorado Springs, Colo. She will be greatly missed by her granddaughters: Imogen Mistry and Tess and Charlotte Harrison and her grandson, Milo Mistry. She is also survived by her brother, Philip Regulski (Arlene) of Ridgway, Pa.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Romaine Regulski; and her brother, Francis Regulski.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Dec. 15, from 4-7 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held immediately after the calling hours at 7 p.m. The Rev. Daniel P. Walsh will officiate. Burial will be in St. Leo’s Cemetery, Ridgway, Pa.

Rachel’s family would like to extend their appreciation to her caregivers Cathy, Mary, Trina, and Tammy.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Rachel’s memory to Chautauqua County Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.

A celebration of Rachel’s life will be held in Dunkirk, N.Y., in May 2022.
