Joseph P. Garry, 87, of East Aurora, N.Y., died peacefully in his sleep Monday morning Oct. 25, 2021.
He was born Nov. 6, 1933, in Pleasantville, N.Y., the son of the late James P. and Anna (Block) Garry. Joe worked for Lever Brothers Corp. in Buffalo for 35 years.
He was married to the love of his life, Sheila Garry, and was blessed to be married for over 55 years. They very much enjoyed their retirement years spending over 20 winters in Englewood, Fla., as “snowbirds.” Joe loved fishing every day and he and Sheila would enjoy dinner at the beach and watching the sunsets together each night.
Sheila and Joe made wonderful lifelong friends in Englewood. Joe’s favorite times would be being with his brothers and their families, especially boating and fishing. His other favorite time was having his children and grandchildren come to visit him and his wife in Florida.
When in Western New York, Joe’s favorite hobbies were golfing with his buddy, Phil, and cheering on the Buffalo Bills.
Joe loved being the life of the party, he loved singing around the piano with his brothers-in-law: Al and Joe at Christmas time, he would also be found telling jokes. Joe’s joyful spirit will be remembered by all those who knew him, and his memory will live on in the many lives he touched.
Survivors include his children: Kathy Holland of Baldwinsville, Laurie Meyers of Fredonia, and Tim (Lisa) Garry of West Seneca; one brother, Jay (Mary Lou) Garry of Atlan-ta, Ga.; five grandchildren: Kyle, Allison, Stephen, Jeremiah, and Johanna; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila (Holahan) Garry; and one brother, James Garry.
Calling hours will be held TODAY, Oct. 27, from 5-7 p.m. at the McGraw Kowal Funeral Home.
