Wilma W. Dopler, 90, a resident of St. Columban’s on the Lake Retirement Home, Silver Creek, formerly of Dunkirk, died Tuesday morning (Oct. 5, 2021) at Brooks Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born April 22, 1931, in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late William and Mary A. (Schafer) Wirtner.
A lifelong resident of the area, Wilma was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, class of 1948. She had been employed as a registered nurse at Brooks Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dunkirk. and was an avid antique collector.
Survivors include two daughters: Heidi (Robert) SanGeorge of Dunkirk, and Amy Sinai of California; four grandsons: Trevor (Alena Ramirez) San George, Trent SanGeorge, Cassidy Topa, and Jeremih Sinai; two great-granddaughters: AnaBella Ramirez and Giada SanGeorge; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents,, she was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Dopler, who died Sept. 4, 2011; one son, Todd Dopler in 2000; and her sister, Barbara Liberatore.
Calling hours will be held TODAY, Oct. 8, from 4-7 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. A funeral will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. James Bailey will officiate. The burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
