Nancy Lee (Pagano) Wagner, 74, of Dunkirk, passed away Wednesday morning (Aug. 25, 2021) at Buffalo General Hospital.
She was born June 15, 1947, in Silver Creek, the daughter of the late Joseph Jr. and Bernice (Putzbach) Pagano.
Education was an integral part of Nancy’s life. She was among the first women to attend and matriculate from St. Bonaventure University and later received her masters degree from Fredonia State University. Throughout her career from which she never retired, she touched many lives as a teacher and served as the director of the Liberty Partnerships Program, which helped at-risk youth, for over 30 years.
In addition to being immensely proud of her two daughters and spending time with them, Nancy loved decorating for the holidays, shopping, reading, giving thoughtful gifts, attending musicals, traveling, New Orleans, the Rolling Stones, four legged furry creatures and laughing with friends and family.
She is survived by her loving daughters: Amy Palmatier (David) and Alison Prilook (David) and step granddaughter, Katie; sister, Linda Williams; nieces, Terri Nickerson (her son DJ McDermott and his daughter, Kendra) Sue Talley (her daughter, Joneece Talley and her children: Faryn and Bryce).
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John Stelmach; and second husband, Mark Wagner.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church. There will be no prior visitation.
