Truth B. (Frost) Pacos

Truth B. (Frost) Pacos (her family and friends called her Trudy) passed away Monday afternoon July 5, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loving family and pets. She was 94 years old.

Trudy was born April 22, 1927, at home in the town of Hanover, daughter of the late Ernest A. Frost and Kate Poynton Frost.

She was raised in Dunkirk and graduated from Dunkirk Senior High School in 1945. Trudy married the love of her life, Edward J. Pacos on Jan. 29, 1949, in Fredonia, N.Y. Together they lived in Fredonia on the family farm that they worked hard on while raising two beautiful children, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Trudy retired from the Home Depot at the age of 90. She also worked at several local retail stores until all of their closings which included K-Mart, Sidey’s, Hills, Twin Fair, Neisners, and also the Van Raalte Company. Trudy was an active member of the Chautauqua County Home Bureau (Silver Creek Crafty Ladies), Dunkirk Knitting and Crocheting group, Tops 176, and a member of St. Joseph’s Church. She also attended Holy Trinity Church in Dunkirk.

Trudy’s hobbies included knitting, crocheting, oil/tole painting, quilting, rug hooking, crafting, baking, flowers and gardening. She loved to cook and bake especially specialty Polish dishes. She also enjoyed NASCAR (Jeff Gordon, Chase Elliott) the Buffalo Bills, reading, playing bingo, watching the old classic cowboy shows and television game shows. Over the years Trudy crocheted and knitted hundreds of afghans, hats, scarfs, mittens and slippers which were donated to the needy and entered into the Chautauqua County Fair where she won many blue ribbons. Most recently she sewed cat nip toys for the kitties at the Lakeshore Humane Society. Trudy was a very giving person.

Trudy loved people and could talk to everyone. She was always positive with something nice to say. She loved all animals and especially her fur pup Fred and Bailey, Bristol and Alley. Trudy had her wit and charm up until the end and told all her family and friends that came to see her and say goodbye that she was ready for God to come and take her up to see her husband, family and friends. She was at peace with life.

Besides her parents, Trudy was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Pacos of 63 years of marriage; and her brother, Ernest A. Frost.

She is survived by her children: Peter Pacos (Roberta) and Janet Pacos Szymanski (Dennis), all of Fredonia; grandchildren: Amber Szymanski Powell (Kevin), Trevor Szymanski, Hillary Pacos Gallson (Blaine), Frank Rossotto (Samatha), Gena Rossotto (Jason Miernik); and great-grandchildren: Hope, Josh and Hannah Powell also baby Jason Miernik. Trudy was also survived by sister in laws, several cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and several friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, 145 E. Main St., Fredonia, N.Y. on Monday, July 19 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Walter officiating. There will be no prior visitations. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredonia, N.Y.
