Walter E. Mizwa Jr., 70, of Silver Creek, formerly of Dunkirk died Monday Morning (May 31, 2021) at Eden Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
He was born Dec. 3, 1950, in Dunkirk, the son of the late Walter E. Sr. and Amelia (Martin) Mizwa.
A lifelong area resident, Walter was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, with the class of 1969. He served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1978. Walter retired from Al Tech Specialty Steel Corp. in Dunkirk.
Survivors include two sons, Christopher (Krystle) Mizwa of York, South Carolina and Andrew Mizwa of Dunedin, Florida; one daughter, Courtney (Zach) King of Wheeling, West Virginia; two grandchildren, Bradyn and Addisyn Mizwa, both of York, SC; three sisters, Rosemary (late David) Lancaster, Patricia (late Robert) Adamowicz, and Janet (Steven) Szopinski, all of Dunkirk; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel A. Mizwa.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 7, at 10 a.m. in the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Abhulimen will officiate. Calling hours will be held Sunday, June 6, from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Full military honors will be accorded by the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council Honor Guard. Burial will be in Willowbrook Park Cemetery.
