Duane A. Clement, 79 of Dunkirk, died Wednesday evening May 26, 2021m at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born July 7, 1941, in Dunkirk, the son of Donald L. Clement and Thelma (Wilcox) Clement.
A lifelong area resident, Mr. Clement was a 1961 graduate of Dunkirk High School. Duane was the owner/operator of Don’s Motel and multiple properties in Dunkirk until his retirement in 2003.
Duane was known for his great sense of humor, hard work and endearing personality. He loved the outdoors, playing pinochle, boating, skiing, road trips, good food and his soap operas. Duane was a natural artist and carpenter, with strong spiritual beliefs and faith. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Clement was a member of the Lakeside Club of Dunkirk and a life-long Buffalo Bills fan.
Surviving are his three sons: Mark (Tamra) Clement of Ripley, N.Y., Duane (Lynne) Clement Jr. of North East, Pa., and Kenneth Clement of Dunkirk, N.Y. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Katherine Clement of Dunkirk, N.Y., Allison Clement of Cincinnati, Ohio, Alexander Clement of North East, Pa., Ian Clement of Dunkirk, N.Y., and Carter Clement of North East, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Thelma Clement; his uncles: Ralph and Loren “Red” Wilcox, Leland and Chesterfield Clement; and his aunt ,Dorothy Bronson.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, June 1, from 4-7 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 2, at 10 a.m. in Forestville Cemetery. The Rev. Thomas Burian will officiate.
