William J. Kolassa, 76, of Fredonia, died Tuesday evening (May 4, 2021) at Sisters Of Charity Hospital in Buffalo following a lengthy illness.
He was born May 28, 1944, in Dunkirk, the son of the late Charles and Jane (Bentley) Kolassa.
A lifelong resident of the area, William had been employed at Cenedella Wood Products in Dunkirk.
Survivors include his wife, Mary A. (Rozek) Kolassa, whom he married Jan. 23, 1965; two sons: James Kolassa of Fredonia and Stephen Kolassa of Dunkirk; one sister, Barbara (Arthur) Nolan of Fredonia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
An avid fan of Johnny Cash and his music, William liked visiting casinos. He especially enjoyed his coffee and donut outings at Point Gratiot with his wife. He also loved his two faithful canine companions: Gilligan and Elmo.
William was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: David Kolassa and Thomas Kolassa Sr.; and his sister, Susan Riewaldt.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
