Edward D. Bremer

Edward D. Bremer, 93, of Dunkirk died Saturday morning (Jan. 2, 2021) at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk.

He was born Feb. 10, 1927, in Dunkirk, the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Scott) Bremer.

A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Edward was a graduate of Dunkirk High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had been employed as a bank teller at M&T Bank in Dunkirk.

Edward was an active parishioner of Holy Trinity Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He also was a member of the All College Band from SUNY Fredonia, director of the Cassadaga area Concert Band, and a proud member of the Democratic Party.

Survivors include one daughter Barbara Bremer Cybart of Mayville; two granddaughters, Stephanie Cybart of New Zealand and Rachel (Andrew) Welton of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane M. Bremer, who died Oct. 29, 2019; three brothers, Don Bremer, Frederick “Spike” Bremer, and Richard Bremer; and five sisters, Catherine Bunge, Florence B. Karin, Carol Pasquale, Diane Snow, and Arlene Meadows.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Entombment was in the Assumption Mausoleum of Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Church. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
