Eleanor A. “Ellie” (Kawski) Shuart, 87, of Dunkirk, died Wednesday morning (Dec. 23, 2020) at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk.
She was born Feb. 4, 1933, in the town of Pomfret, to Frank and Rose (Larsen) Kawski.
Ellie attended Brocton Central School and worked for Acme Grocery Store and the Blue Bird Bus Company.
She married Terry Shuart on Jan, 31, 1976, and they made their home on Stone Quarry Road until his death in 2000. Ellie then moved to Porter Manor Apartments until becoming a resident of Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Joseph Church in Fredonia.
Ellie is survived by her brother, James Kawski; sister-in-law, Jean Kawski; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Terry; five brothers: Frank, Victor, Leo, Robert and William Kawski; and three sisters: Martha Brisky, Dorothy Godlewski and Phyllis Butcher.
A special thank you to all the employees at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab that helped make her feel at home.
Following the guidelines and protocols administered by the governor of New York, family and friends may call from 3-4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 27, at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Sheridan.

Aunt Ellie, you were always a positive and fun person to be with. Rest in peace, and I hope you’re laughing with Uncle Terry and all your loved ones now that have gone ahead.
