Gloria G. Carlson, 95, of Fredonia, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 16, 2020) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.
She was born July 22, 1925, in Sheridan, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Grace (Deering) Douglass.
A lifelong resident of the area, Gloria was a graduate of Dunkirk High School with the class of 1942. She had been employed as a dental assistant at Dr. John Ingham’s Dental Office in Fredonia and was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dunkirk.
Survivors include her husband, Earl J. Carlson, whom she married Oct. 11, 2008; one stepson, Robert (Patricia) Hayward of Fredonia; her cousin, Susan (Joseph Eicheldinger) Wells of Williamsville; and three stepdaughters: Kimberly (Peter) Zielinski, Carol (David) Bleck and Lisa (R. Thomas) Hawk, all of Fredonia.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Baer; and her second husband, Harry Hayward.
Following the guidelines and protocols administered by the governor of New York, family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 20, at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Willowbrook Park Cemetery.
