It’s with great sadness, Geneva Pearl Metzger has left us this day of Dec. 8, 2020, to be with our Lord. She was 89 years young. Hallelujah!
Geneva Pearl Sexton was born June 10, 1931, in Morehead, Ky.
She lived and worked in Morehead as a seamstress. Eventually she met and was married to John Oliver Metzger, her husband of over 66 years.
After traveling through many states, she and her husband settled in Sheridan, N.Y., to raise their family.
Besides helping run the family farm where they raised beef cattle and a roadside sweet corn stand she was also employed at the former M. Wile Textile Company in Dunkirk
She enjoyed singing bluegrass and performing on stage with the Western NY Bluegrass Association and the Niagara Frontier Fiddle Club.
She enjoyed baking, quilting and spending time with her family , which was her pride and joy.
She is survived by her husband, John O. Metzger,; her four children: John D. Metzger (Dolores), James B. Metzger (Bertha), Jeffrey A. Metzger (Dana) and Mary A. Strawser (Roger); 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She will be laid to rest at Cowdens Corner Cemetery in Arkwright, N.Y., in the family plot.
A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Rest quietly in our Lord’s loving hands!
We love you and will see you again in Heaven!
