Barbara A. Ortolano

Barbara A. Ortolano, 58, of Fredonia died peacefully Monday morning (Nov. 2, 2020) at home.

      She was born Sept. 10, 1962, in Lackawanna, the daughter of the late George and Maria (Gimbert) Mallion.

      A 1980 Hamburg High School graduate, Barbara was an alumna of Fredonia State University College, Class of 1984.

      She had been employed as a test board technician at DFT Communications in Fredonia. Barbara was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church.

      Family was most important to her. Her two children and her husband were the most important things to her and the loves of her life. She enjoyed her crafting, animals and cooking for her family especially at the holidays. She was a selfless strong women who battled adversity for many years. She would do anything for anybody, her family was her first and only love. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She also enjoyed spending time with her faithful canine companion Haley.

      Survivors include her husband, David C. Ortolano, whom she married April 25, 1987; one son, Jeffrey Ortolano of Dunkirk; one daughter, Christine Ortolano of Buffalo; two brothers, Thomas (Sara) Mallion of Albany and James Mallion of South Carolina; one sister, Suzanne Mallion of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

      Following the guidelines and protocols administered by the governor of New York, family and friends may call from 4-6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6, at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 East Chestnut St., Dunkirk, NY 14048.
